It is now possible to communicate with your
LG compatible appliances with the help of
LG's HomeChat. You can literally chat with your
LG compatible appliances using natural-language commands. For instance, if you send the text message, "I'm going on vacation," the
following should automatically happen: your fridge will go to
power-save mode, your robot vaccum will default to a 9 a.m. daily cleaning
cycle, and your washer will autoprogram to run a wash cycle the day
before you get home.
You can also communicate with single applications as needed. For example, ask your robot vaccum cleaner "when did you last clean?" and it should tell you the time since it was used. Your oven may provide you with a number of recipe suggestions and you may get alerts, start the laundry cycle and do much more with HomeChat.
This is a major enhancement to the LG's previous Smart home apps as all the appliances used different apps with different ranges. Why manage all differently when you can connect to all the appliances through a single app and that is HomeChat. LG managed to come out with a Smart appliances app that lets you manage your dishwasher, refrigerator, washing machine and dryer in one place.
LG has partnered with
Line Messaging app to create this service dubbed
HomeChat that relies on Natural Language Processing (NLP) to let you send text messages to your
LG compatible appliances. It works on
Android, BlackBerry, iOS, Nokia Asha, and Windows Phone devices as well as OS X and Windows computers.
