Guardian - A safety app for Windows phone users in India by Microsoft

Microsoft India on Thursday, 26th December 2013 launched 'Guardian' a new safety app exclusive for Windows phone users in India.
Raj-Biryani, the managing director of Microsoft-IT India said that Guardian enables users to switch on a 'track me' feature in the app that lets friends and family track them in real time using Microsoft Windows Azure cloud services and Bing Map APIs.

Apples iphone to land at China Mobile in January

On Sunday 22nd December 2013, Apple officially announced its agreement with China Mobile. China Mobile is the world's largest mobile services provider by network scale and subscriber base, serving over 760 million customers.
According to a press release issued by Apple, the partnership of Apple and China Mobile is now official. The announcement described the deal as a "multi-year agreement."
Apples new iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c will be made available in retail stores operated by China Mobile from January 17, 2014. Both phones will also be available for pre-registration on China Mobiles official website and from its customer service hotline "10086" from Wednesday, December 25, 2013.

Protests against Google and Apple in Oakland and San Francisco

There is a growing tension between the communities and the tech industries in San Francisco and Oakland.
There were three bus protests in all - two Google buses in Oakland and one Apple Bus in San Francisco. The protesters are upset with the rising rents due to highly paid tech workers moving into the city which resulted in blocking the buses shuttling employees to and from Silicon Valley offices to their San Francisco and Oakland homes.

In Oakland, protesters attacked a Google bus on Friday smashing a window and distributing fliers reading "Get the fuck out of Oakland" to Google employees on board. 

And in San Francisco, demonstrators blocked an Apple bus, holding signs and even carrying a wooden coffin bearing the message "Affordable housing."
